Application Requirements:

Scholarship Amounts: Three scholarships will be offered at $4,000.00 each for members of the Sweis(s) Professional Network who are students pursuing an associate’s degree or above at an accredited U.S. based higher education institution in the 2025 academic school year. See Section 1 of application below for complete applicant criteria.

Deadline: Applications will be accepted from October 15, 2024 through November 21, 2024. Decisions will be communicated on January 2, 2024.

Disclaimer: Scholarship recipients will be announced at the Winter Gala on January 19, 2025 and should expect to be present to receive the award.

Format: The application must be submitted using the digital application provided on the SPN website. The application will consist of two sections: Section 1 - Applicant Qualification Criteria and Section 2 - Essays.

Section 1. Applicant Qualification Criteria:

1. Applicant is a registered SPN Member.

2. Applicant should be within the U.S. or be accepted into a U.S. program.

3. Applicant must submit proof of good standing for current semester (high school or college), with transcripts official/sealed showing GPA of 3.0/4.0 minimum.

4. Applicant must include proof of enrollment to attend an accredited higher education institution for a 2025 semester or quarter (high school seniors would be eligible; if not currently enrolled, applicants are still encouraged to apply and distribution of funds will be contingent upon receipt of proof of enrollment for a 2025 semester/quarter). Institution must be in-person format and applicants must be pursuing an associate’s degree or above. Examples of qualifying institutions include but are not limited to public universities, private universities, technical schools, liberal arts colleges, and community colleges.

Section 2. Essay Questions:

There will be three essay questions for the following categories, with a word count minimum of 500 words per essay answer.

2: Contributions, Achievements, and Impact

3: Personal Reflection and Future Goals

Evaluation Process: There will be two board members who will confirm that the application submissions meet qualification criteria asked in Section 1 of the application. Anonymous IDs will then be assigned to Section 2 of the application. There will be 5 judges from the Scholarship Committee (3 board members and 2 non-board members) who will review the essay submissions anonymously. Applicants are encouraged and advised to avoid including any identifying factors in essay responses. Judges agree to evaluate with no bias and are committed to an ethical, honest, and objective review based on an essay judging rubric pre-approved by the board at large. Plagiarism will be monitored.

The application period for 2025 Scholarships will open on October 15, 2024 at 10:00 AM (CST) and will close on November 21, 2024 at 11:59 PM (CST).

Failure to follow application instructions will result in negative evaluation scores by the Scholarship Committee.
